~ CURRENT INFORMATION ~
On June 30, 2007, the Advisory Board of the Stratton Community
Foundation, accepted a $50,000.00 Challenge Grant from the Robert and Jeannette
Hunt Community Fund. Mr. and Mrs. Hunt were the founders of Great Plains
Communications, our local telephone and internet service provider.
Their foundation board has selected Stratton as one of only ten
communities in the state to receive their $50,000.00 Challenge Grant.
This challenge must be matched by the Stratton community on at least a
3-to-1 basis within a three year timeframe.
A total of $150,000.00 must be raised in order for Stratton to receive the $50,000.00. In addition, $75,000.000 must be raised in the first year of the challenge. Once accomplished, the Hunt Fund will give Stratton their first installment of $25,000.00 at that time. The remaining $25,000.00 will be received when the overall goal is reached. As of June 30, 2008, the first phase of the fund raising effort was met, with donations and gifts exceeding the $75,000.00 goal! In addition, more than $32,000.00 has already been pledged over the next two years, reducing the overall amount necessary to reach the goal set by the Challenge Grant!
The newly formed endowment fund of the Stratton Community
Foundation is in essence, a savings account for the Stratton community.
Contributions to this fund will be placed in financial vehicles that will grow
the funds year after year. A certain amount of the interest generated by
the endowment fund will be given back to the Stratton community in the form of
grants, gifts, and scholarships. To learn more about the benefits of the
endowment fund, and how it will help with community development projects, or to
make a contribution, please see any member of the
Stratton Community Foundation Advisory Board.
