Stratton hosts numerous activities and recreation events throughout the year.
Lakeview Lodge Located 1-1/2 miles south and east of Stratton, this little "best kept secret" of Southwest Nebraska sits on 78 acres of undisturbed ground, nestled in native Nebraska trees and on the edge of Swanson Lake. In its setting, Lakeview Lodge is surrounded by an abundance of wildlife including deer, wild turkeys, pheasants and quail. The Lodge is a spacious, rustic building approximately 40' x 50' in size with a large commercial-style kitchen equipped for serving large groups. The Lodge "Common Room" has a natural hardwood floor and a cozy double-hearth stone fireplace in the center of the room. A large bathhouse with showers is also near by. Lakeview Lodge is available for natural lake activities, conferences, meetings, family reunions, parties, weddings, receptions and outings of all kinds. Swanson Lake Located just three miles east of Stratton, Swanson Lake provides the area with plenty of opportunities for fun and recreation. Boating, camping, fishing, swimming, water skiing, and hunting are of the many seasonal activities available to enjoy. Boat ramps are available on both sides of the lake providing easy access. Camping locations are abundant around the entire lake with camper hook-ups available in selected areas. The summer months provide anglers a chance to try their skill (and luck) at catching Catfish, Crappie, Walleye, White Bass, Large-mouth Bass, Wiper, Northern Pike, and many other species of fish. Swimming areas are clearly marked around the entire lake and are convenient to campsites.
During the fall months, the west end of the lake provides natural habitat for whitetail and mule deer, pheasant, dove, quail, and wild turkey. Waterfowl including Canadian Geese, and numerous species of Duck are also present in the field. Stratton is also close to near-by game such as Antelope. For more information, please contact the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.
