LIBRARY:
Located in the Veteran's Memorial Hall, the Stratton Public Library provides
the community with another place to learn and grow. With its 8,000 volumes
and 275 videos it provides the community with information and entertainment for
residents of all ages. From Current Adult Fiction and Winnie the Pooh to
State and Local history, the library provides an excellent source for
information, education, and entertainment.
Founded in 1923 by the Stratton Women's Club, the library project was to
start as a traveling library. However, in 1925 the library was moved into
the V.M. Hall and in 1930 the Stratton Women's Club transferred ownership of the
library to the Village of Stratton. Today, the library is governed by a
library board approved by the Village Board of Directors. Financing is
received by taxation, memorials, and individual gifts.
